    Here Comes the Sun

Spring is our favorite of the four seasons because it’s the transition from winter to summer. Typically occurring during the months of March, April or May, spring is the singsong season that inspires flowers to bloom and plants to grow. Here are some facts you may not know about the sunny season:

o    On the first day of spring, there is 12 hours of daylight and 12 hours of night.
o    The first day of spring is also called the vernal equinox.
o    Warmer weather occurs in spring because the Earth’s axis is angled toward the sun, increasing the number of daylight hours.
o    Because warm air moves up from lower latitudes and cold air pushed down from the polar regions, more severe weather like hurricanes occurs in spring.
o    Trees, flowers, plants and bulbs flourish during spring.
o    Animals shed their winter coats for warmer weather.
o    Because of migratory patterns in spring, this is the optimal season for birds to lay their eggs.
