    February is the last full month of winter and to some, it is not a great time to roam around. But this may not be the case if you are in Texas. February is a month filled with fun and festivities.

    The gloomy winter weather is never an issue because the whole month is filled with exciting events like Mardi Gras, rodeos, marathons, and other festivals. Unlike other states that are buried in snow, Texas has beautiful weather in winter.

    Galveston holds a 12-day Mardi Fras celebration before the Lenten season. It might not be as popular as those held in New Orleans but it sure is also filled with fun and culture.

    The annual festivity is composed of masquerade balls, parades, concerts, and parties. There are also some dance parties and fun runs. Around 300,000 people are involved in this celebration which will be held from February 14 to 25, 2020.

     

    San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo

    One of the largest rodeo events in the U.S. is the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo. It was started in 1950.

    This huge event happens from February 6 to 23, 2020. It includes a live professional rodeo, stock show, and famous entertainment performances.

    The Austin Marathon is one of the iconic events in the state’s capital city. Almost half of its course will pass by the Colorado River and Town Lake. It is made more challenging by the rolling hills leg of the race.

    It is scheduled for February 16, 2020. It includes Half Marathon, 2020 Ascension Seton Austin Marathon, and 5K. An estimated 20,000 runners will participate in the said race.

     

    Charro Days Fiesta

    Since 1938, the Charro Days is held every February. It is a week-long cultural festival that includes Mexican-inspired boat races, parades, street dancing, fireworks, and other family-friendly events.

    It is one of Texas’ largest cultural celebrations. Thousands of locals and tourists attend the festivities. Charro bean cook-off and Jalapeno eating contest are some of the highlights of the festival which is set to happen from February 27 to March 8, 2020.

    Dallas Boat Expo

    The yearly Dallas Boat Show is a breath-taking exhibition of boats, boat accessories, fishing tackle, and personal watercraft. They also hold seminars about the industry. It is usually held in the first week of February. It is set to happen from January 31 to February 9, 2020.

    Cowtown Marathon

    Fort Worth holds a yearly marathon called Cowtown Marathon. It includes a 5K, 10K, kid’s 5K, ultra marathon, and a relay race.

    You can take the Cowtown Challenge which means running two races in two consecutive days. Completers get to receive a finisher’s gift and three medals. It will be held from February 28 to March 1, 2020.

    Rains County Eagle Fest

    The Lone Star State is a feeding and nesting home to bald eagles. These majestic birds can be seen in Emory, Texas.

    The Rains County Eagle Fest takes place on January 18, 2020. They offer eagle viewing tours on Lake Tawakoni and Lake Fork.

    Whooping Crane Festival

    The yearly Whooping Crane Festival is a melting pot of travelers from across the country. People travel to Port Aransas to witness the return of the cranes to their habitat in the Aransas National Wildlife Refuge.

    It is the only place where people can see a natural population of cranes. The event also includes a nature-related trade show and talks. It is scheduled from February 20 to 23, 2020.
