Have you changed your clocks already? In case you missed it, DST or Daylight Saving /Savings Time began yesterday, March 8, 2020, at 2:00 a.m. It’s not too late to move your time forward by one hour.

Also known as “spring forward day,” the beginning of daylight saving time is the adjustment of time to let it match the changing length of the day. In March, move clocks forward by an hour while in November (the end of DST), clocks are moved backward by an hour.

DST is only observed in some regions of the world. But the areas near the equator like Asia and Africa, never do so.

DST affects certain day to day activities like travel, timekeeping, record keeping, billing, sleep patterns, and medical devices.

As time forwards by an hour, you can do some changes in your home to mark it as a special day. The following are some useful things that you can do.

    Get your Spring Tools Ready

This is the best time to prepare and transform your home for the warmer months. You can change your home décor and color motif to match the season.

You can also change your beddings into lighter colors and materials now that the temperature is warmer. Keep your winter clothes and shoes in the closet and replace them with comfy slippers and stilettos. Put away your thick sweaters and take out your lightweight clothes.

    Do a Kitchen Makeover

When you hear the word spring, one of the top things that comes to mind is cleaning. Therefore, let the cleaning and de-cluttering begin.

Take this time to clean the fridge, throw away expired goods in the pantry, deep clean the stove or oven, and rearranging the cabinets.

Replace the Batteries in Carbon Monoxide and Some Detectors

It is recommended to change batteries twice a year. Doing it around this time makes it easier to remember. Though they are not drained yet, you can already replace it and use it in other devices and toys.

    Change or Clean the Curtains

Take the time to vacuum accumulated dirt and dust from your curtains and drapes. If you have time and they’re washable, wash them.

And since the weather becomes warmer, you can keep the heavier and darker window blinds and replace them with lighter ones.

Get your Patio Ready for Spring

The weather will become even nicer in the coming months. And for sure, you will be spending more time outside, specifically on the patio.

Maybe it’s time to give it a makeover. You can change the light bulbs, move and clean the furniture, add some plants or ornaments, and sweep the corners to remove dirt.

    Open the Vents

You normally close the vents in the winter to prevent pipes from freezing. Spring is the best time to open them to let air circulate and prevent the build-up of rot and mildew.

    Replace the Filters

Take this time to change the filters on the air conditioner, furnace, dishwasher, vacuum cleaner, and humidifier. These will run much better once the filters are changed.

    Clean the Clothes Dryer

Lint build-up is the major cause of fires. Take the opportunity to clean the vent duct and clothes dryer thoroughly.

    Refresh your Garden

Before planting your favorite plants and flowers, make sure to prepare your garden. Prune dead branches, pull out weeds, loosen up the soil, and rake dry leaves.

Plan your Spring and Summer Vacation

This is the best time to prep your car for road trips. Do some basic car maintenance like changing fluids and oil. Check the tires, inspect the brakes, check the lights, and replace the wipers.

    Clean the Barbecue Grill

Spring and summer are great times for barbecue. Since the grill has been put away all winter, it is time to get it ready by cleaning it with dishwashing soap and water to remove grease and dirt.
